My Great Gran

Last Monday I went to my Great Gran’s funeral. My Gran was called Flora and she was 85 years old when she died. First, we went to church and sang some songs. I took some communion down to the front for my Aunt’s friend, Father Fitzpatrick (My Aunt is a church caretaker) , with my cousins. After that, we went to the Linn Cremation place and my older cousin said a speech. The speech made me really upset because it was so sweet! We went back to my Gran’s house and had a kind of after party. After that I am still sad but I will try to forget about the sad times.

Book Fair Performances!!

As celebration of our book week last week, we had some cool performances on Friday! One group read out a poem by Roald Dahl and had a Roald Dahl guessing game which was very funny! I was in part of a group with Rachael, Louise, Amber, Natasha and Isla. We did a scene from The Witches by Roald Dahl. I played Nurse Springer and a rabbit. Because it is nearly Easter, we gave out toy chicks and turned people into rabbits instead of rats. One group only crawled about and meowed because they were The Magic Kittens.Another group did some scenes from Hannah Montana, a T.V. show. I really enjoyed the performances and I hope that we have more soon!!

Book Fair Week!

This week a Traveling Book Fair came to our school. There have been posters around school showing some books you can buy. So yesterday we went to look at the books in the I.C.T. room, I saw lots and lots of books that I liked so I wrote them down on a special book fair sheet.
There were six cabinets of brand new, fresh books. Three whole cabinets were for Primary 1,2 and 3 and younger kids so they didn’t appeal to me! One cabinet had fact books like a cookbook called Cakes And Cookies, Yum! Another cabinet had fiction books for older kids and I liked the look of them. The other two cabinets had books for Primary 4 to 7 , some of them looked a bit too easy for me but others looked quite good.
Today we are buying our books. I am getting five and I can’t wait to read them!

Money Problems

Some places in England have not been accepting Scottish Banknotes. This is making Scottish visitors very unhappy. The law is that they should be treated exactly the same as any English Banknote but it is the shop or company owner’s decision. Some shops in London, such as flower shops, cafes and cleaners would accept Scottish Banknotes but it seems that big shops might not accept them still.

Scotland the Great

Scotland is fabulous because of lots of things. There’s miles of trees, hills and beautiful scenery such as Edinburgh Castle, Loch Ness and Glasgow Cathedral. The weather isn’t perfect but lets plants, flowers and forests flourish! Entertainment is jolly and joyful with lots of laughs and dancing. Our Patron Saint is St Andrew who was crucified on an X-like cross and Ireland’s Patron Saint is Scottish too. We’ve also got a cool pattern, tartan that’s considered as fashion everywhere. Lots of famous people are Scottish, Billy Conolly, Robert Burns, William Wallace and loads more. We are great singers like K.T. Tunstall, Fratellis and The Proclaimers.

How Blogging Helps Us!

I think blogging will help my writing because I can see what people think of my writing and I can improve on it. Another reason is if the other school makes comments they don’t know me so they can say what they want and I won’t take any offence.

There’s Nothing Like Halloween

On freaky, creepy Halloween night.
When all the ghosts come to give you a fright.
The ghouls are wailing,
The chains are all trailing,
There’s nothing like Halloween!

The bags and baskets filled to the top,
The toffee and peanuts can never stop!
Sticky, gooey fudge,
I can never have too much!
There’s nothing like Halloween!

Plastic pitchforks and brooms,
To bring people to their dooms!
The happiness and smiles,
Just go on for miles!
There’s nothing like Halloween!

Homemade costumes you’ll never beat,
And yummy chocolate, oh so sweet!
For girls, a cute fairy,
Or boys, something scary.
There’s nothing like Halloween!

Loads of fun,
For everyone!
There’s nothing like Halloween!!!!
